Bloggers Speak: MacBook Air

January 16th, 2008 · 4 Comments · Apple, Bloggers Speak

                                Flat-out stunning.

While the dust settles on Macworld 2008, I scoped the blogsphere to see what the reactions were to the MacBook Air and here is what I found.

“…MacBook Air is quite simple the most beautiful personal computer ever made.” Shel Israel, Co-Author of Naked Conversations.

“Ultra light, ultra awesome.” Jason Chen, Gizmodo

“Did someone say “world’s thinnest laptop?” I’m ordering one.” Technical Evangelist

“The keyboard is just like the MacBook, but what’s better is the MacBook Air has a LED widescreen at 13.3″ and is like a touch pad similar to the iPhone.” Sarah Meyers, Blogger and Host of PopSnap.

“The move away from computers that rely on desktop apps to the cloud (internet apps) is on. The Macbook Air fits the criteria with its lack of optical drive, relatively small storage options and emphasis on wireless/ WiFi internet. But here’s the thing: it’s too much money…oh, and I still want one.” Duncan Riley, TechCrunch.

“Yeah, pretty much sexy.” Paul Millar, Engadget

In my opinion I think it’s a bunch of hype. Yeah they keep making their computers thinner, but we are sure having to pay a price for that. (I’m pro windows though, so I’m always going to think that way!)

Whoa! That sure is something else.

But when will it end? I’m not just attacking the world of technology, but it seems that we’re always searching for that Fountain of Youth, that Perfection. Where do you go from here? I know, that’s what we said with so many predecessors, but where do you go from here? It seems that there is always something new on the horizon….

Everything I was reading about it touted how good it was, but how small the market share really is for this time of laptop.

The only good thing about this laptop coming out is that it brought SSD (solid state hard drives) into the mainstream, which will hopefully start to drive the price down. I remember when 1GB compact flash cards for digital camera’s cost $150+, now you can get a 32GB CF card for $130 and a 1GB for $20
